With two albums under their belts, Before Their Eyes returns with their third release Untouchable. With the pressure of their last release The Dawn Of My Death reaching #10 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart in 2008, Before Their Eyes is back to top their sophomore album. Untouchable has the potential, but does it execute properly?

The album begins with the appropriately titled, and hard-hitting track, “Hey Dude!” The title is an attention grabber amongst friends, and trust me, this song grabs you and pulls you into the ride which is Untouchable. Pounding screams ring through your ears which then transition into the clean singing of lead vocalist Nick Moore. The instruments on every track stand out, showing improvement over the last two albums.

Most bands go for a new sound, and end up falling into the generic category. Before Their Eyes ventured into new ground by playing softer songs, but they happen to be the catchiest pieces of music I’ve ever listened to. “Sing To Me” and “Love Is Misery” happen to be two of the most perfectly written songs with deep lyrics to ever flood my ears. Lyrics from those two tracks are sure to float through your memory for days or weeks. The four songs already released on the band’s Myspace don’t even begin to touch the outer edges of this album.

The acoustic finale of the album, “Start With Today” just steals your breath. The album features both the acoustic version of the track, and a full band version. Yes, the full band version is quite good, but the acoustic version blows it out of the water. With deep lyrics and a passionate voice, Nick Moore sends his message with the help of guest vocalist Kristen Williams.

The album brings a whole new perspective on bands with more than one genre. While a band can have the usual screams and clean singing, they can also have the softer side, which Before Their Eyes displays amazingly. With lyrics that hit you at your core, and screams which send you into a frenzy, Untouchable is the best Before Their Eyes release to date. It is definitely a step up in the band’s career and hopefully a good example of where they’ll be going in the future. Be sure to pick up the album at your local retailer on March 9th!
